07.《梅雨季》 Plum Rain Season

Transcript
During the plum rain season from May to June, one spends more time waiting, hoping for the clouds to clear.
The monsoon does not pass as quickly as it arrives, but lingers in cycles of steady rain. In this humid stretch of time, haste feels out of place. Instead, we find ourselves needing to slow our thoughts. The humidity weighs on the body, joints grow heavier, clothes cling to the skin, and breathing deepens. Life, almost imperceptibly, demands more effort, and a greater measure of patience. In this sensory heaviness, the body slows down before the mind.
This work uses the three characters for “plum rain season” (梅雨季) written vertically. The characters for “plum” (梅) and “season” (季) are written with short, quick lines to express inner anxiety and unease. The character for “rain” (雨) is written with a deliberately slow pace, using thicker ink to slowly lay out each line and turn, as one carefully feels the damp and heavy air of the plum rain season, and understands the necessity of slowing down during this period.
