This exhibition grew out of Pace, a calligraphy exhibition presented at “Lishan (Urayama Space)” in 2023. Selected through an open call, the project later received the Grand Prize in the second Hengshan Calligraphy Awards, becoming the starting point for the exhibition you see here. Hoping to continue the emotional impact of that exhibition, we bring the “feeling of Urayama” to the Hengshan Calligraphy Art Center. Since childhood, Yi Chun has written with a naturally quick hand. Perhaps because of that, she has long been drawn to the opposite: slowness. Over time, this became an important thread in her practice. She began to pay attention to moments that ask us to slow down, and to processes that simply cannot be hurried. Even though the character for “slow” does not appear directly in these works, its presence can still be felt. As you look closely, you may begin to sense a deep, quiet slowness moving through each brushstroke.
