- This large-scale work by Kwon Chang-ryun is written in cursive script and features a phrase from the I Ching, or the Book of Changes: “If you accumulate good deeds, the household will be with good fortune.” The piece is characterized by unrefined, rough brushstrokes and an adventurous composition. Despite its unpredictability, you can feel the flow of free brushwork and the vitality of each stroke.
Kwon’s work is reminiscent of the performance art of Japanese avant-garde calligrapher Inoue Yuichi. The bold, dynamic strokes convey a sense of movement and energy, capturing the essence of spontaneous creation.
