- Transcript
- This collaborative work was initiated by the Taiwan Female Calligraphy Association, Taiwan’s first cross-regional women’s calligraphy society, established in 2012. The association is committed to promoting the diverse development of women’s calligraphy through annual group exhibitions and active participation in international artistic exchange, showcasing the vitality of contemporary female calligraphers.
Titled Calligraphy Writing: The Hidden Depths of Chinese Characters Through Millennia, this collective piece brings together ten members whose ages span from their 40s to 80s. Each artist contributed a segment rendered in her own style, incorporating various script forms—including seal, clerical, standard, running, and cursive scripts—and diverse techniques such as brush ink, simulated stone-rubbing effects, and seal carving. These distinct expressions were ultimately assembled into a single work. The result is a vivid reflection on the aesthetic evolution of calligraphy across time and space, offering a contemporary reinterpretation of Chinese character writing and its cultural legacy.
