1-CHANG LI Der-Her-Album Cover, Impressive Calligraphy and Paintings

Transcript
This featured work, inscribed with the signature “Hostess of Linlang Pavilion,” was created by Chang Lee Te-Her, an important cultural patron in Chiayi from the Japanese colonial period through the postwar era. Born into a prominent family in Xiluo, Yunlin, Chang was highly accomplished in poetry, painting, and calligraphy. After marrying, she moved to Chiayi and established her own cultural salon, Linlang Pavilion, adopting the studio name “Hostess of Linlang Pavilion.”
An active artist and dedicated host of literary gatherings, Chang regularly invited local elites and notable artists—such as painters Chen Cheng-Po and Lin Yu-Shan—to her home.

The calligraphic page on view here is her personal inscription for the album Impressive Calligraphy and Paintings which contains 24 treasured works from her collection, including fan paintings and calligraphy by esteemed Taiwanese and Japanese artists such as Komuro Suiun, Liao Chong-Guang, Yeh Han-Ching, Su You-Rang, and Lin Yu-Shan. This album stands as a precious testament to a flourishing cultural era.
