Resonance of the Heart

Transcript
This piece is composed of three main tones—red, black, and white. Using red pigment and lines of varying thickness, Ro Boku writes the postscript and the poem August 6 from Poems of the Atomic Bomb by Tōge Sankichi, a poet and victim of the Hiroshima bombing. Through this, he conveys a profound reflection on the ongoing wars around the world. In white Hufen (a traditional white pigment), he inscribes the preface Give Back Our Humanity, expressing his yearning for global peace.
In the latter part of the work, Ro Boku incorporates both ink brush and charcoal pencil as creative mediums to articulate his discontent and contemplation regarding the corruption within contemporary Japanese social structures.
The entire work presents a captivating palette, diverse brushstrokes, and a variety of materials that together generate a rich visual experience. It is as if the artist’s inner voice resonates throughout the composition, echoing powerfully within the viewer’s mind.
