- As using pens, computer keyboards, and smartphones has become more common, interest in typography design has rapidly increased. The development of various fonts has enhanced the practicality and artistic value of typefaces. Typography design focuses on creating characters for improved readability or aesthetic appeal.
Ahn Sang-soo introduced the Ahn Sang-soo typeface in 1985, based on the principles of Korean script creation. It became the default font in the Hangul program in 1991. In 2007, Ahn received the Gutenberg Prize as a Korean designer. If calligraphy is considered textual art, typography extends the possibilities for calligraphy through various media and roles, blending practicality with artistic expression.
