Finalists Announcement for “Taoyuan International Art Award”. 18 Artists Will Exhibit Together.
Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts (TMoFA) organized the open call of “2021 Taoyuan International Art Award.” After conducting a preliminary review that lasted for one month, 18 artists from all over the world were selected as Finalists. The Finalists were released on the press conference on August 29 and they will have the exhibition together in Taoyuan, Taiwan, next year, competing for the grand prize!
“2021 Taoyuan International Art Award” is a competition of contemporary visual art. It aims to encourage a diversified development of art practices and cultivate talents in contemporary art, with an expectation to strengthen international exchanges by selecting artists from around the world to have an on-site exhibition in Taoyuan, Taiwan. This year more than 600 participants from 46 countries submitted their entries. The Organizer invited professional artists, curators and critics to be the juries of the award and they conducted a preliminary review for a month. 18 participants were selected as the Finalists ultimately, and the list was released on the press conference on August 29.
The selected artists come from 9 different countries, which include Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Bangladesh, U.S.A., Portuguese, Latvia and Greece. The categories of their artworks include paintings, installations, new media Art and performances. “The artworks are infused into multiple issues by the Finalists with diverse cultural backgrounds. Some of them are created to discuss the issue of ‘art’ itself, and still some are for thinking ‘Being’ of life , local development or responses to the changing of current situation. They lead the audience to re-experience art and inspect the world again” says the chairperson of jury members, LIU Chun-Lan. “They will be exhibited together in Taoyuan next year. We look forward to abundant discussion and multilevel significances derived from these artworks which are located in the cultural context of Taoyuan.”
The Organizer will cover the Finalists’ expenses for the basic exhibit build-up and transportation. Their selected entries will be exhibited in Taoyuan Arts Center in March and April 2021. The juries will have an on-site review to decide one winner for “Grand Prize” and three winners for “Honorable Mention”. The winners will be announced on March next year. Art lovers are welcome to the exhibition to appreciate their artworks that are integrated with creativeness, experiments and international visions.
