Art museums are responsible for the collection, compilation, preservation and maintenance of art works as cultural assets. On the other hand, one of the core values of an art museum is to utilize the collections for the public's benefit. In order to accumulate research materials, Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts (TMOFA) launched the "Compilation of Classics" project in 2019. The first two publications are titled: 2019 Research on Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts' Calligraphy Collection and 2019 Research on Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts' Ink Painting Collection. This time, TMOFA invited four scholars: Chen Kuang-Yi, Hsieh Chia-Chuan, Chen Huai-En, and Chiu Lin-Ting. With their contribution, 2020 Research on Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts' Oil Painting and Watercolor Collection was published as the latest issue in the series Compilation of Classics.
