The Taoyuan Fine Arts Exhibition has been held for over 40 years and is one of the most long-standing visual arts competitions in Taoyuan. It serves as a benchmark for various art competitions in Taoyuan, bearing legacy while simultaneously pioneering new vistas. Since the Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts took over its curation in 2020, the focus has been sharpened to explore innovation and experimentation within genres. The competition is now divided into two main themes, the “Painting and Calligraphy Category” and “Three-dimension and Multi-media Category,” which alternate every year.

The 2023 Taoyuan Fine Arts Exhibition returns for the second time with “Three-dimension and Multi-media Category” as its submission theme, and it is further subdivided into three categories: “Plastic Art,” “Photography and Video Art,” and “New Media Art.” This year’s exhibition has attracted entries from creators of diverse generations and backgrounds, and after meticulous selection, 57 outstanding works have been chosen for exhibition. The participating artists not only employ a diverse and rich array of media and techniques, capturing narratives resonant with the zeitgeist. This engenders a fertile ground for new reflections on both conceptual and communicative layers, embodying the diversity and contemporary perspectives generated by artistic creation as it evolves with the era and technology while continuing to explore and break through the possibilities of different mediums.

The exhibition will be held from Tuesday, October 17^th to Saturday, November 4^th at the Department of Cultural Affairs, Taoyuan (Photography and Video Art, New Media Art) and the Zhongli Arts Hall (Plastic Art). By organizing the exhibition through annual categorical submissions, we aim to cultivate a healthy competitive atmosphere for artistic exchange, to encourage and nurture domestic artistic talent, while also offering the public a diverse cultural experience. Through this, we hope to unlock the boundless possibilities of artistic creation and ignite abundant creative energy in arts and culture.
