"Chimeras Sing a Song V.3 (interaction)" by Tseng Yu-Chuan presents on a mobile handheld device a view similar to that of embryo growth via information transmitted through the connection between a maternal body and the device. Tseng designed special application software which allows the viewer to interact with the “Chimera's maternal body” through the device. At the venue one can hear a Chimera sing songs, and a little green embryo keeps circling the pink maternal embryo.
This series includes a projection video of real-time interaction between the "Chimera's Petri dish" and the "Chimera's maternal body." The iPhone app provides the nutrients to the Chimera through the photographic light capture movement. When the viewer connects with the artwork through the device, they can together with the Chimera, and together they will continue to grow, evolve and establish their own look of existence.
"Chimera" has two meanings: First, a beast in Greek mythology comprising a lion's head, goat's body and a snake's tail; Second, it represents genetic reproduction in modern technology. This work used its name as a metaphor for "humans" having become organic and inorganic chimeras, having constructed a sense of self-contradiction within the intertwining of the virtual and the real.
