This year (2019) marks the 37th year of Taoyuan Fine Arts Exhibition (TFAE), which has evolved from a local exhibition of arts into the most popular visual art competition with the longest history in Taoyuan. It draws thousands of artists varied in fields and ages every year, playing a vital role in promoting art education and creation for all. Through a public competition mechanism, it encourages brilliant artists to continue their practices, while discovering more emerging artists for the art creation in Taiwan to accumulate and innovate relentlessly.

To encourage for artworks in diverse mediums, the open call this year is divided into 10 categories, i.e. Oil Painting, Watercolor Painting, Sculpture, Craft, Eastern Gouache, Printmaking, Ink Art, Calligraphy & Seal Engraving, Visual Design, and Photography. Also, "Selection-Exempt" Prize is granted to the 3-time winner of "Taoyuan Art Award" in the same category of TFAE, so that the artist can enter the exhibition without review process. A total of 151 entries are selected this year. Artists capture emotions toward the society, the life, and nature in variety and present their humanistic care via different approaches. Their rich contents and artistic practices distinctive from one another are worthy of your appreciation.All the selected artworks will be showcased at the Department of Cultural Affairs of Taoyuan City Government and Zhongli Arts Hall, presenting not just a visual feast to the eyes of art lovers that "art" never enough, but the abundant fruits of Taoyuan's endeavor in art cultivation.
